Avoiding scams: 8 habits to trade crypto and Mobile Money safely
Most losses do not come from a technical flaw but from someone being tricked. These eight habits protect your money.
The 8 habits
- Never give your password, verification code or Mobile Money PIN to anyone. PayFaye will never ask for them.
- Never share your crypto wallet’s recovery phrase: whoever has it takes your funds.
- Only use the official app and the official website. Check the website address before you sign in.
- For a sale, only use the deposit address shown in your app when you create the order. An address received in a message is not reliable.
- Check the network and the address before every transfer, and send a small test to a new address.
- Be wary of guaranteed-profit promises, urgent “opportunities” and strangers writing to you privately: these are classic scam signs.
- Turn on two-factor authentication in Settings, Security: even if your password leaks, your account stays protected.
- When in doubt, stop and contact support from the app, never through a number or link received in a message.
Fake agents
Scammers pose as a service’s support to get your codes or make you approve an operation. A real PayFaye agent will never ask for your codes, your password or your recovery phrase, and replies to you inside the app.
If you have been tricked
- Change your password right away and turn on two-factor authentication.
- Contact support from the app describing exactly what happened.
- Keep the evidence: messages, transaction IDs (hash), screenshots.
