Bitcoin or USDT: what are the differences before you trade?
Bitcoin and USDT are the two cryptos most traded with Mobile Money, but they do not serve the same purposes. Here are the concrete differences.
Price: variable or stable
The Bitcoin (BTC) price moves a lot, sometimes by several percent in a day. USDT is designed to stay close to 1 US dollar: its value in CFA francs mostly moves with the dollar exchange rate.
Uses
- Bitcoin: a well-known asset with a limited supply (21 million coins), held by some for the long term and accepted on many platforms.
- USDT: rather used to keep a dollar value, pay or receive remotely, and move between platforms.
Networks, fees and timing
- Bitcoin is sent on its own network; confirmations can take longer, so allow more time.
- USDT exists on several networks (TRC20, ERC20, BEP20…), whose fees and compatibility differ.
- In both cases, PayFaye shows the estimated network fee before you confirm.
With PayFaye
You can buy and sell both with your Mobile Money. Minimum amounts, rates and fees follow the same rules for both cryptos and are shown before you confirm. The rate is guaranteed for 30 minutes once the order is created.
Good to know
This guide is general information, not investment advice. The value of cryptocurrencies moves: only trade what you can afford to see fluctuate.
PayFaye does not tell you which crypto to choose: that decision is yours.
